The Denham Virgin Store & Service Co. made its pop-up style debut on January 20th, 2012 within Berlin’s legendary denim emporium, the shop called 14oz.
The concept was born at Denham’s Amsterdam flagship and this was its first road-trip. There was no better time than Berlin Fashion Week and no better location than the 14oz store during which to share the experience with a broader audience.
The concept features three main components:
VIRGIN - A full offering of “virgin” denim (unwashed) styles crafted from the best Japanese denim fabrics.
SERVICE - A full on-site repair and alterations service allowing denim enthusiasts to maintain their favorite jean ensuring they last long and continue to get better over time.
ARTISAN JAPAN - A full offering of Denham’s most artisan “Made in Japan” pre-laundered styles featuring rich natural wear-patterns inspired by heavily worn vintage jeans from our archive. These styles also represent a sort of snapshot of the future for Virgin jean customers embarking on a long experience with new jeans aided by the support of the Service Co.
To realize the pop-up at 14oz, Ringmasters and tireless denim-heads Stacy and Seb, from the Amsterdam Denham shop and Bob’s Store respectively, loaded up and set off with a travelling caravan of old American Union Specials and Singer sewing machines, to a 3 day show in the lower level of 14oz.
From repairing holes, taking up trouser legs and repairing knees to custom labelling and the chain stitch hem alteration service; each jean was individually repaired & finished to prepare it for another wear experience.
If you couldn't wait to age your jean naturally, also on offer was a pre-aging service that replicates the natural wear and tear of a jean as worn for three / six months.
