Home (all) Welcome to DENHAM the Jeanmaker´s website. Each card reveals a story which represents one facet of Denham´s vision. Categorised by the collection, garment library, studio & stores, to press reports & the birth of the Cutter´s Council. Designed in time with no beginning nor end, through resourceful innovation and fearless experimentation. It´s a decorated blog. A tailor-made homepage. We hope to fascinate but are equally prepared to frustrate.
Attempts to carefully rationalise and fully explain the compelling force of indigo and denim culture have been made my smarter people than us. None of those attempts have satisfied us and we doubt ours would fare any better. We're not going to try to reveal a higher truth. Instead we'll share what we think and what we feel.
Our views are idiosyncratic. Jason has worked as a jeanmaker his entire adult life. His singular experience continues to forge a completely unique design ethic. The depth, specificity and eclecticism of his individual point-of-view is matched only by the frenetic obsession demonstrated by each member of our team. We're a group of independent personalities with shared compulsions and a common zeal. We argue. We dispute. We debate. We provoke. We antagonise, challenge and confront.
But we enter the fray committed to fighting on behalf of THE BALANCE. We subscribe to a couple of common beliefs and we aspire to manifest them in careful harmony: WORSHIP TRADITION.
It's our shared tradition that has taught us the fundamental nature of quality. The reason it takes generations to establish great traditions is because quality is never simple. Anyone who says different, is full of shit. Quality is the source of the fibres before they're spun into yarn. It is about weave and knit specifications. It's about stitch-lengths and construction techniques. It is about dyeing and laundering processes. It is about hardware, closures, bindings and finishes.
It's about the frontside, the backside, the inside, the right side and the other side. It's not simple, it's complex. But when you get a taste, it quickly becomes an addiction.

DESTROY CONVENTION
Contrary to popular belief, traditions aren't honoured by blind mindless repetition. Traditions are advanced through systematically challenging convention in a continual search for improvement. We add to tradition through trial-and-error, through innovation and invention. Traditions are ignited and revitalised through inspired acts of respectful revolution.
Respectful acts of revolution are also fun as hell and they prevent us from taking ourselves too seriously. WORSHIP TRADITION DESTROY CONVENTION: Denim culture taught us these things, but their significance isn't limited to denim. These values underpin everything we do.
