The AW11 Commander retains the influence of the WW2 British Field Jacket and the Classic Motor Touring Jacket that inspired last season's Social. But for the Fall/Winter season the British Millerain wax-stuffed fabric has been beefed-up, contemporary fleece facings and a warm flannel lining have been added.

We took additional inspiration from Dutch Army Brassards we had acquired for the Denham Garment Library and, as happens all the time around here, we were struck at the ingenuity of the brassard concept. For our take on the military brassard we gave the design its own epaulet (eliminating the need to include them on the jacket) and we built it so its corners could button securely around the upper arm. Like standard brassards, ours in removable and reversible allowing you to leave it at home and giving you a choice as to whether you're going to show off a bit of scissor branding or travel a little more stealthily.

While we were at it, we also engineered the brassard so that its strap could be folded around a belt and buttoned in-place like a money-pouch... Sorry, we couldn't resist.
