Home (all) Welcome to DENHAM the Jeanmaker´s website. Each card reveals a story which represents one facet of Denham´s vision. Categorised by the collection, garment library, studio & stores, to press reports & the birth of the Cutter´s Council. Designed in time with no beginning nor end, through resourceful innovation and fearless experimentation. It´s a decorated blog. A tailor-made homepage. We hope to fascinate but are equally prepared to frustrate.
A set of birthdays inspired a family reunion in Chicago and these kinds of things are never complete with out some foraging into the local vintage scene. One of the main vintage drags in the city is North Milwaukee Avenue. We jumped in and out of a few places, met great passionate local people and were presented with a sort of portrait-via-garments of Chicago culture. Wide shouldered Dick Tracy style suits from the 1940's that were more than a little gangster and plenty of proud Chicago team sports gear.

But one of the key pieces for us was a classic milkman's jacket from the days when milk was dropped at your doorstep each morning. Built in a dignified white workwear twill and featuring black buttons engraved to spell-out the wearer's vocation with each letter's recess hand-painted in white. Milk bottle emblems at each cuff and a stamp announcing; "moo time is your time...". Advertising copy straight out of Madmen's first season.
Thanks to the guys at US #1 Vintage and Store B Vintage for their time.
