Hvanna Recut Parka - DHDR

This jacket has been crafted from vintage Dutch military tents from the Second World War. DENHAM repurposed the tents — from the original ripstop fabric to the seams and toggles — to create a limited edition batch of parkas, working around the tents’ seams, windows, doors and flaps.

The silhouette was inspired by a M-1948 fishtail military parka; the US Army originally designed the style in 1948, with an olive-coloured parka shell made from wind-resistant cotton sateen. It had slit front pockets, sleeve pockets and a hooded liner; later it was redesigned in a way that was cheaper to manufacture in mass-produced quantities.

  • These coats have been produced in limited quantities. Each has a completely unique colour pending the original tent’s exposure to sunlight and other wear-and-tear.
  • The ripstop fabric used to make the original tents was produced with a special technique that reinforced nylon with interwoven thick threads. The unique crosshatch pattern increased strength and durability, making the fabric resistant to tearing and ripping – a coveted quality for military tents that would endure exposure to harsh elements.

  • DENHAM’s Hvanna parka is the ultimate three-in-one jacket: it has a down-filled, removable liner for added warmth, and its hood is made from camouflage tarpaulin facing.

The Truth is in the Details

By Jason Denham

I’ve dedicated my life to making the perfect jeans. They’re my passion and my pride. Like a chef, I hand pick all my ingredients: I study tradition and technique, and obsess over every detail. I honour heritage and authenticity, while bringing a modern twist to my craft. I believe ‘The Truth is in the Details’ and every pair of DENHAM jeans tells a story – one that evolves every time they’re worn. I’m excited to share in this journey and story with you.
